TEETH WHITENING

It’s no surprise that many people enjoy or desire to have white teeth, and there seem to be many options available on the market to help you accomplish this. However, not all are reliable, effective or safe.

How Our Teeth Whitening Services Work

For immediate results, we offer in-office whitening as well as a take-home kit to maintain your beautiful new smile.

Take-home bleaching is also an option. We take impressions and make custom-fit trays for your mouth and give you a bleaching agent that you will fill the trays with. Each day you will wear the trays for 30-60 minutes without worry of damaging your teeth or affecting any existing dental work. You will continue to use the trays daily until you reach the level of whiteness you desire. Then you can use the trays occasionally as needed to maintain your white smile.

If your teeth are discoloured, then dental bleaching is an option. However, if they are severely discoloured, you might only have the option of veneers or crowns. We are happy to help you determine this when you schedule your free dental whitening consult visit with us. The discolouration is typically due to ageing, chemical damage or staining but our teeth whitening process can help you eliminate the discolouration and leave you with a brilliant, white smile. You can book a free consultation to see if you are a good candidate for teeth whitening.

PORCELAIN VENEERS

If you are not familiar with veneers, a porcelain veneer is bonded (glued) to the top and front surface of your teeth and are made of thin ceramic shells. Porcelain veneers remain a popular option for those looking to get a beautiful smile quickly. They are simple and versatile so if your teeth are shaped wrong, crooked or badly stained, veneers might be the best option for you.

APPEARANCE

As previously mentioned, these veneers are crafted of thin ceramic so when they are bonded to your teeth, you won’t notice that they are not your real teeth. In addition, you can continue to enjoy your coffee or tea or even cigarettes, without the worry of staining. The thinness also allows natural light to shine through, so their colour becomes the natural colour of your teeth underneath the veneers.

Should you have any questions or concerns regarding your veneers or the visits leading up to your scheduled porcelain veneers application don’t hesitate to call our office and book a free consultation. By taking care of your veneers the same way, your teeth should be taken care of, you can expect to enjoy that new beautiful smile for many years to come.

BRIDGES

Not only does every single tooth make a difference when speaking and chewing food, but all of your teeth also play a critical role in maintaining proper tooth alignment. If you do happen to lose a tooth, replacing them is critical to maintaining the proper function of your mouth. Luckily, there are options for correcting the loss of a tooth.

Options

When a tooth is missing, a bridge can be a good choice for replacing it. In a bridge, an artificial tooth is connected on each end to crowns. The crowns are placed over the neighbouring teeth to hold the bridge in place.

WHY ARE BRIDGES IMPORTANT?

The most important aspect of getting a bridge is your own dental health. Your teeth were designed to work together and complement each other. With missing teeth, harmful disorders might emerge as stress can be placed on the gums and oral tissues not to forget that missing teeth cause shifting teeth.

DENTAL CROWNS

After a tooth has had root canal therapy, we recommend placing a crown on the tooth. Root canal therapy reduces the strength by making the tooth much more dry, brittle or breakable with a loss of tooth flexibility. A crown can cover, protect and strengthen a root canaled tooth from the inevitable post root canal tooth fracture.

Crowns may be recommended for “cracked tooth syndrome.” Cracked tooth syndrome is a term we use to describe the recurring discomfort, sensitivity, or pain that is caused by an incomplete fracture or crack in a tooth.

You may have cracked tooth syndrome if you experience any of these symptoms:

You find yourself chewing on only one side of your mouth because it’s uncomfortable to chew on the other side.

Your teeth are sensitive to hot or cold temperatures or too sweet or sour foods.

You feel a sharp pain when you chew.

The pain is intermittent rather than constant.

Large fillings or broken teeth may also require a crown. When a large portion of your tooth has been damaged or decayed, a significant amount of the tooth structure is lost, and you may not have enough tooth structure left to support a filling.

Crowns are made from porcelain, porcelain fused to metal, gold or zirconia (a metal that can be matched to your tooth colour):

Provides support to damaged and broken teeth

Appearance is completely natural

Can fix your smile and any existing chewing problems

ORTHODONTICS FOR ADULTS

The metal bands have been replaced with brackets that are bonded directly to the front of the teeth. These brackets are much smaller, less noticeable and more comfortable.

It’s amazing how far your teeth can be moved by orthodontic procedures. Your bone reacts to the tension created by the braces by creating special cells on each side of the tooth. These cells remove the bone on one side of the tooth while creating it on the other, causing your teeth to move.

Orthodontic treatment could be needed at any age with some patients still having baby teeth while others being more senior with missing adult teeth.

Benefits of Orthodontic Treatment

According to the American Association of Orthodontics, up to 65% of adults could benefit from orthodontic treatment. As long as your gums and bone structures are in good health, teeth straightening can happen at any age. We offer a variety of treatments specifically made for different age groups – especially for adults. You can get the smile you’ve always dreamed of today!

Orthodontic treatments later in life can help significantly improve your appearance and your self-esteem. In addition, the health of your teeth and gums will improve through orthodontic treatments, and that’s just as important. The crowding of teeth or overbites can contribute to loss of bone and gum tissue, cavities, abnormal erosion of the enamel or to the surface of your teeth, and can also cause headaches and joint pain in your jaw (TMJ/TMD).

The new technologies and techniques we use are esthetic, efficient, and have reduced discomfort levels while also reducing the number of check-ups necessary with your dentist. Though some adults still opt for more traditional technologies, a larger percentage of adults choose more esthetically pleasing treatments such as Invisalign®

During your preliminary examination, we will determine which treatment plan will better suit your specific needs. We will discuss this treatment plan with you, as well as the duration of the plan and its cost. When needed, we collaborate with specialists to guarantee optimal results.
